RICHARDSON TRAFFIC BOX

The Richardson, Texas Traffic Signal Box Art Contest was a citywide public art initiative launched to beautify local intersections by transforming traffic signal boxes into vibrant, vinyl-wrapped artworks that reflect the creativity and spirit of the community. Local artists submitted original designs around an annual theme, with winning pieces selected for artistic merit, creativity, and connection to the city, then installed at prominent intersections for thousands of residents and visitors to see each day.

Being selected as a winner was a genuine honor and a source of deep joy -both for the recognition itself and for the opportunity to contribute lasting, accessible art to shared public space, where it could enrich the community and become part of the everyday rhythm of Richardson life. My design, Butterflies Squared, was selected in 2025 and will be installed at the corner of Alma and Renner (near the light, at the stop on the walking trail) in Richardson through 2030.
